nikkoldanielsDaniels Music StudioAberdeenWashingtonTo me teaching music isn’t a job it’s a passion. I believe that music needs to come from the heart, using feeling, emotion and imagination and that lessons should allow you to find your own musical expressions while learning the other parts of music (theory, technique, sight reading, ear training, history & performance).
Once you work on these fundamentals, everything will open up for you, making you more musically expressive and appreciative.I do pride myself on making each student’s musical journey tailored to their needs & levels and am genuinely interested in my students’ accomplishments and progress. I enjoy sharing the gift of music and feel a responsibility to provide well rounded piano lessons.
I strive to build confidence in the student’s ability to perform what they have learned. I also believe that God has provided and entrusted me with these students and their musical futures and is happy to be part of their development in musical adventure.
Students’ ages range from 4 to 85 and at various levels proving that you are never too young or too old to play music.
My music adventure started when I was 5 years old and started taking formal piano lessons when I was 7. Between 1980 and 1988 I received music certificates & awards in performance at local and state competitions, auditions, adjudications etc. I also received awards for “Who’s Who in Music” in 1987 & 1988. While in high school I accompanied Aberdeen High School Choir under the direction of Pat Wilhelms as well as playing for weddings and various occasions. I continue to play for occasions such as weddings, conventions, and church services.
The biggest musical influence was and still is my mom who has been teaching piano for over 40 years. I remember students coming to the house and taking lessons and listening to all the different styles and moods of music that was played.
My piano instructors were Darlene Nelson, Helena Smith, Judy Reynvaan, Laura Boyer, and later at Western Washington University with Ford Hill.
My teaching adventure started in 1985 as a student teacher under direction of Laura Boyer. In 2005 I started Wirta Piano Studio, until 2007 when it was changed to Daniels Music Studio after my marriage.
I am the only traveling music teacher in the Grays Harbor area. Currently I’m limited to travel in Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Cosmopolis, Montesano and Elma areas.
